On 19 August, at the invitation of the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Ukraine), the Union took part in a business breakfast and roundtable discussion attended by Germany’s Federal Minister for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Carsten Schneider, and a German business delegation representing the GreenTech sector.
The event brought together representatives of the governments of Ukraine and Germany, Ukrainian and German businesses, relevant ministries and state agencies, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, international financial institutions, development banks, and international organisations.
The meeting was opened by Rainer Perau, Managing Director of AHK Ukraine. Representatives of the public and private sectors of both countries joined the discussions, focusing on practical opportunities for investment, financing, and Ukrainian-German business cooperation in the process of Ukraine’s reconstruction.
GreenTech, Financial Instruments and Risk Insurance
The discussion focused on business resilience and investment activity amid the war, the development of Ukraine’s green economy, particularly in the areas of the circular economy, energy, and water resource management, as well as financial instruments, insurance, and risk mitigation mechanisms for future investments.
SUP’s Position: From Simple Recovery to a New, Competitive Economy
During the panel discussion “Resilience in Action: German and Ukrainian Companies Investing in Ukraine,” SUP presented the Ukrainian business community’s vision of its role in investment and the future reconstruction of Ukraine.
The discussion focused on the practical experience of companies that continue to operate and invest in Ukraine despite the full-scale war.
Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that Ukraine’s reconstruction should not mean a return to what existed before the war, but rather the creation of a new, modern, resilient, and competitive economy. Ukrainian businesses are ready to be active participants in this process together with international partners.
Action Plan: Turning Contacts into Concrete Joint Projects
For SUP, further deepening the partnership with Germany and developing practical cooperation between Ukrainian and German companies is of particular importance, particularly in the areas of sustainable reconstruction, energy, construction, and environmental solutions.
SUP will continue to create opportunities for direct dialogue between businesses from the two countries and facilitate the transformation of such contacts into concrete partnerships and joint projects.
