On July 11, in Rome, as part of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025, a Memorandum of Strategic Cooperation on access to critically important medicines was signed between Ukraine and the EU. The Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs (SUP) also joined the signatories.
This Memorandum is an important step towards the convergence of the Ukrainian pharmaceutical market with the European one. It aims to coordinate efforts to implement the European Commission’s initiative to improve the production, supply, and access to critical medicines in the EU and Ukraine.
Key Objectives of the Memorandum:
- Formation of strategic partnerships between Ukrainian and European manufacturers of critical medicines;
- Promotion of investments in modernizing production capacities in accordance with EU GMP standards;
- Improvement of supply chains to overcome drug shortages;
- Involvement of Ukraine in European joint procurement mechanisms;
- Increasing transparency and accountability in the pharmaceutical sector.
The Memorandum was signed by:
- The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine (Minister Viktor Liashko);
- Medicines for Europe (Director General Adrian van den Hoven);
- Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of Ukraine (Anatoliy Reder);
- European Business Association (Executive Director Anna Derevyanko);
- American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (Co-Chair of the Healthcare Committee Borys Danevych);
- and other participants, including the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs (Executive Director Kateryna Glazkova).
SUP’s participation in signing the memorandum confirms our active position in developing strategic alliances in the healthcare sector, as well as our openness to participating in building transparent and effective pharmaceutical supply chains.
