A meeting titled “International Opportunities for SUP Construction Companies in 2026” was held for members of the Construction Committee of the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs. The meeting served as a platform for open dialogue on real opportunities for international cooperation, partnerships, and project development in the construction sector within the Union’s framework.

Olena Hemusova, Head of the SUP Center for International Cooperation, outlined the role of the Center as a structural unit responsible for developing international partnerships, engaging with foreign business associations and institutions, and providing practical support for Ukrainian companies entering international markets.

During the meeting, key areas of international engagement for the construction sector were presented in detail, including:

  • Norway–Ukraine Building and Construction Hub — a joint project of SUP, SINTEF, and the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Norwegian and Ukrainian construction sectors in reconstruction, sustainable building, and the implementation of modern engineering and technological solutions;
  • planned visits of Norwegian and Italian delegations, working meetings, and partnership development for joint projects in Ukraine;
  • SUP participation in international conferences, forums, and events dedicated to Ukraine’s recovery in 2026.

A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to direct dialogue with businesses. Construction companies shared their practical experience in international cooperation, identified key barriers — from the lack of concrete funded projects to regulatory and certification challenges — and outlined their expectations from the Union’s international work.

One of the key topics raised was the lack of accessible war risk insurance as a systemic barrier to investment attraction. Participants shared real-life cases of losses and emphasized that without a functioning insurance model, most investment decisions are postponed or not made at all.

SUP position

The Union’s position is clear: we are actively working on the issue of war risk insurance and invite businesses to contribute to shaping a common position. That is why the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs is launching a collection of views and practical input from companies on effective insurance models under wartime conditions. Our goal is to develop solutions that have real impact and work for Ukrainian businesses across the country. We encourage you to join the survey.

The Center for International Cooperation emphasized that international partnerships are not built overnight. However, through systematic communication, presence on international platforms, and business participation in trust-building projects, it is possible to move from interest to real joint initiatives.

Next steps

SUP will continue:

  • addressing systemic barriers together with the Analytical Center and профильні committees;
  • developing practical formats of international cooperation;
  • working with international partners and financial institutions on war risk insurance.

The meeting marked an important step toward shaping a practical agenda for international cooperation of SUP construction companies in 2026 and confirmed the business demand for more focused, structured, and results-oriented engagement formats with international partners.

The Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs will continue to develop its international direction together with business — focusing on concrete opportunities, partnerships, and long-term results.
