The topic of the meeting: Transportation industry in Europe: experience, challenges and trends. How is the international transportation market in Europe changing?
In fact, some of the problems in Polish-Ukrainian relations can be solved right now by unifying standards and actions at all levels – governments, business communities, and experts.
The meeting focused on the following issues:
- The harmonization of legal norms and transportation standards is key to facilitating cooperation and reducing tensions between Ukrainian and Polish carriers, otherwise the conflict of interest can last up to 10-14 years.
- Need to unify interaction processes, as Ukrainian carriers are already switching to electronic waybills, while in Poland paper procedures are still used.
- Polish carriers are concerned about increased competition with their Ukrainian counterparts amid declining demand in the EU, although the growth in trade opens up opportunities for both countries. To reduce pressure, equal conditions are needed.
- The problem of queues at the border and unequal working conditions for drivers is critical, affecting the cost of services and exacerbating tensions.
- Effective mechanisms of control and regulation by governments are needed.
“We cannot wait for 10 years, we must engage the business community in Poland and Ukraine, develop proposals and submit them to the governments of the two countries. The SUP is ready to join the development of these initiatives,” said Kateryna Glazkova, Executive Director of the SUP.We thank all participants for their active participation in the event and willingness to jointly implement EU standards to avoid conflicts and stabilize the market.
