About the Business Protection Center (BPC)
The Business Protection Center (BPC) of the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs (SUP) provides legal protection for business and acts as a key player in defending entrepreneurs against unlawful actions by the state and third parties. Without business support, it is difficult to withstand external threats, so the state must strive for effective interaction with entrepreneurs. Since 2022, SUP has strengthened the legal protection of business by scaling up the Business Protection Committee into the Business Protection Center. The Center actively defends enterprises against unlawful actions, contributing to the strengthening of trust between business and government.
A landmark event for the Union was the signing of a memorandum with the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) on cooperation in the field of entrepreneur protection. The goal of the memorandum is to ensure the transparency of the SSU’s activities, prevent the disproportionate scope of procedural measures, violations of search procedures, and infringements on the legal rights of business entities in Ukraine. Within the framework of the memorandum, SUP and the SSU hold regular working meetings to identify and study precedents of legal violations by law enforcement agencies against Ukrainian enterprises.
Goal
To ensure the effective protection of Ukrainian entrepreneurs from unlawful actions by state bodies with the aim of strengthening trust between business and government.
Potential Risks for Business at Different Stages of Development
Additional pressure, unlawful actions by law enforcement and controlling bodies, as well as dishonest officials, undermine mutual trust and hinder joint efforts toward security, especially during the war and other economic challenges. The government should see business as a reliable ally, not an object of excessive control. For business, this is a matter of survival, preserving jobs, and the ability to invest in the country’s recovery.
