Each specific reform that needs to be done means that until this reform is done, a large number of people who drive the Ukrainian economy suffer. These are the entrepreneurs-employers, their employees, their consumers and other stakeholders who are here. We simply have no other way but to modernize the Ukrainian economy,” – said Valeriy Pekar.
The authors of the document believe that the main principles of state policy making and economic modernization are
- economic freedom and termination of manifestations of forceful influence on business
- reduction of the state’s share in the economy
- maximum liberalization of conditions for the development of entrepreneurship
- inviolability of private property – both physical and intellectual
- zero tolerance to corruption, fair courts
- Elimination of infrastructure monopoly
- conditions for fair competition and cooperation of business, attraction of investmentsstimulating the development of innovation and modernization
The presentation was attended by representatives of public authorities who expressed their opinions and provided comments on the document.
“A lot of work is being put into the policies pursued by the government, which shows that we are well coordinated. The investment strategy has not yet been written, so we can actually use the information contained in these policies. We are grateful for the work, it shows that the government and civil society are moving in the same direction,” said Oleksiy Sobolev, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
Under the auspices of the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs and with the support of the USAID Competitive Economy Program, the best experts came together to develop a package of government policies in the economic sphere, the implementation of which will enable stable economic growth.
We are grateful to the experts and all the participants of the event for an open dialog and sincerely hope that this document will become the basis for rebuilding Ukraine’s economy today.
