The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has invited the three largest business associations to discuss the initial results and address questions of concern to the business community.
At the meeting, the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs was represented by Deputy Executive Director Tetiana Palamarchuk.
The Head of the NBU assured that when making decisions regarding exchange rate policy, they aim to reduce uncertainty for businesses. This approach, along with regular meetings between the NBU leadership and the business community, helps Ukrainian entrepreneurs better understand the current state of affairs to make informed business decisions. During the meeting, the regulator announced its goal of maintaining exchange rate stability as a means to reduce inflation to 5% in the medium term. Currently, the NBU is assessing the feasibility of further reducing the policy rate and easing currency restrictions.
The discussion also focused on the stimulation of domestic production, including through credit support. According to the regulator, there is ongoing conceptual reconsideration of the 5-7-9 program in coordination with the IMF, and a comprehensive strategy for restoring lending is being developed.
During the meeting, the Head of the NBU also announced prospects for further relaxation of currency restrictions. An analysis is underway to determine which relaxations are currently most necessary and realistic, including the possibility of lifting restrictions on dividend payments abroad.
